An argument had erupted after she accused the 17-year-old pupil of tampering with her bag, said prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy.

Duty counsel Miss Sonia Grant said any violence against women should not be condoned but she said Skinner had cooperated with Police and school officials and she was "surprised the matter has come this far''.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis ordered a social inquiry report and adjourned sentencing to July 8.
