Charbonneau appointed chief actuary of Arch Reinsurance
Yves Charbonneau has been appointed as Chief Actuary of Arch Reinsurance Limited pending Immigration approval.
Mr. Charbonneau joined Arch Re in July 2003 as a Pricing Actuary. Before joining Arch Re, he was an Actuary at Tillinghast in Montreal.
Mr. Charbonneau is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Montreal.
Mark Lyons has been promoted to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer of Arch Insurance Group (US).
In his new role, Mr. Lyons will assume responsibility for each of the underwriting units of Arch?s US based insurance operations and will continue to report to Ralph Jones, Chairman and CEO of Arch Worldwide Insurance Group.
Mr. Jones said: ?Mark has been instrumental in the formation of our insurance group and has worked tirelessly to build the foundation that supports our insurance operations during the last four years.?

Mr. Lyons, age 49, joined Arch Insurance Group in August 2002 as Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary and was promoted in 2003 to the position of Executive Vice President of Group Operations and Chief Actuary.
Prior to joining Arch, he served as Executive Vice President of Product Services at Zurich US and Vice President and Actuary at Berkshire Hathaway Insurance Group.
Mr. Lyons holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Elizabethtown College and is an associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Boornazian head of reinsurance at Aspen
Brian Boornazian has been appointed Head of Reinsurance of Aspen, a newly created position.
Mr. Boornazian will retain his current position as President of Aspen Re America as well as its associated responsibilities and will continue to report directly to Aspen?s CEO, Chris O?Kane.
As Head of Reinsurance, Mr. Boornazian will be responsible for the global management of property and casualty product lines across Aspen?s reinsurance operations, coordinating business planning, risk management and development of business opportunities.
Mr. Boornazian will bring Aspen?s reinsurance businesses together into a streamlined reporting line, enhancing efficiencies across the segments.
Mr. O?Kane said: ?We are fortunate that an executive with Brian?s depth of underwriting expertise and management experience is leading Aspen?s worldwide reinsurance operations.?

Mr. Boornazian joined Aspen in January 2004 as President of Aspen Re America, Property Reinsurance.
He has served as President, Aspen Re America since October 2005. Prior to joining Aspen, Mr. Boornazian acted in several capacities at XL Re America.
Most recently was Senior Vice President, Chief Property Officer with responsibility for Property Treaty, Property Facultative, Ocean Marine and Multi-Line.
Mr. Boornazian previously has held positions with General Reinsurance, Guy Carpenter and Cologne Re of America and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Fairfield University.

Fair appointed new Butterfield Bank VP
Ian Fair has been appointed to the newly created role of Vice Chairman of Butterfield Bank (Bahamas Limited).
Reporting to Graham Brooks, Executive Vice President, International, Mr. Fair will help the Group continue to expand its international Private Banking and Wealth Management business. He will play a significant role in the Group?s relationships with major clients.
Mr. Fair brings an enormous wealth of experience to his new role. He has been involved in offshore trust and private banking for over 40 years, the last 37 of those from a Bahamas base.
Before joining the Butterfield Bank Group, Mr. Fair worked for National Westminster Bank, and then in the Bahamas at Scotiatrust and Deltec Panamerica. He was principal for 16 years in MeesPierson?s Bahamas operation.
Mr. Fair remains committed to the development of the finance industry in The Bahamas. He was the Founding Chairman of The Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB).
He is the current Chairman of The Bahamas International Securities Exchange (BISX) and The International Trust Companies Association.

Three promoted at HWP
HWP have made three senior management appointments: Cynthia Anderson to Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Tony Martin to Senior Vice President, Automotive Sales and Anthony Steede to Vice President Aftersales.
Ms Anderson first joined HWP in 1996 as Financial Controller and Assistant Vice President of Finance.
Following this, she held progressively senior positions with subsidiaries of New Venture Holdings, the parent company of HWP.
In her new role as CFO, Ms Anderson will plan, implement, direct and evaluate the company?s fiscal function and performance.
She will also develop and implement polices and procedures that will improve the overall operations and effectiveness of the company.
Ms Anderson is from New Jersey and has lived in Bermuda since 1981.
A former auditor with Ernst & Young, she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from Kean University, New Jersey. Ms Anderson said: ?One of the core strengths of HWP is their commitment to training their employees.

Mr. Martin has worked in the automotive industry for the past 29 years. He started with HWP in 1990 as a Sales Manager. He subsequently served as Manager of the Suzuki Centre and Vice President of Automotive Sales.
In his new role as Senior Vice President, Automotive Sales, Mr. Martin is responsible for the entire Automotive Sales operation of HWP.
This role includes researching new vehicle model options, monitoring issues and trends in the local market and industry as a whole, liaising with vehicle suppliers, overseeing advertising and promotion, handling recruitment for the automotive sales division, and supervising and training sales staff.
A Bermudian, Mr. Martin was educated at Bermuda College. ?The company has established itself as a dynamic and strong leader within the automotive sales and service industry in Bermuda,? Mr. Martin said.

Bermudian Anthony Steede joins HWP from Bermuda Motors Limited where he held the position of Executive Vice President, Operations, from 1998 to 2006.
In his role as Vice President, Aftersales, at HWP, Mr. Steede will oversee the after sales division including the body shop, mechanical services, automotive parts, North Shore garage and HWP?s towing service.
Mr. Steede is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst and the School of Infantry at Warminster.
Of his recent appointment to the company, Mr. Steede said: ?I am thrilled to join HWP in this challenging role.

Mather named director of Miller Bermuda
Julia Mather has been promoted to the position of Director of Miller Bermuda Limited, a subsidiary of Miller Insurance Services Limited.
Miller Bermuda Limited was set up in 2003 to assist Miller in developing closer ties with Bermudian insurance companies and to facilitate the placing of business into this ever increasingly important market.
Graham Clarke, Chief Executive of Miller Insurance Services Limited said: ?Julia was responsible for setting up Miller Bermuda Limited and I am delighted that she has agreed to become a director of the company.
