Writer out of line(s) January 10, 2000
I am writing this in response to the letter that was printed in the Letters to the Editor section of the newspaper dated Saturday, January 8, 2000. The writer, "an old Bermudian'' is entitled to his or her own opinion regarding that new LOM building, but should not have referred to the Lines family in general.
It is wrong for the writer to make a general statement that "One would expect from the Lines, one of Bermuda's older families, a genuine sense of preservation of Bermuda's unique architecture.'' I myself, am a member of the Lines family (the ones that had the Lines Brothers building, a traditional pastel Bermudian building may I add), and had nothing to do with either the construction or the architectural design of the new LOM building.
My father along with my uncle served the Bermudian community for over 40 years and they deserve to be recognised for their outstanding contribution to the public. Therefore we do not "hang our heads in shame''! HEIDI A. LINES Devonshire P.S. Proud to sign my name.
