Some of America's funniest comedians will perform at Frog Lane Field on Saturday as a part of Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam.

Invited here by Jamfest Productions, comedians Adele Givens, Royale Watkins, Ricky Harris, Tony Brown, and the "midnight rocker'' Kid Capri will deliver some of their best work in their raw, raunchy, hip-hop style.

The five comedians make up Def Comedy Jam Live which is one of HBO's highest-rated comedy specials.

And yesterday Mr. Calvert Harvey of Jamfest said they had been trying for a long time to get the comedy team here.

Jamfest was able to do so through a long-time contact in New York, he added.

Ticket sales for the show, which begins at 8.30 p.m., were going well.

Mr. Harvey said earlier this week 350 tickets were purchased from one location.

And he said if all goes well with the show, Def Comedy Jam may be shown live from Bermuda on HBO.

"This is their first time here and hopefully it won't be their last,'' he said.
