And they are reminding those who plan to participate in the fair that the deadlines for entering the various categories are just a month away.

Exhibition director John Barnes said catalogues, containing entry rules and information about the fair, are now available.

"Those interested in entering should note that the deadline for the horse and children's art entries is March 7,'' he said. "And the deadline for the rest of the categories is March 21.'' Mr. Barnes said organisers were hoping for more entries at the three-day event since it will be the 60th show.

"We're hoping for an increased level of participation,'' he said. "The more people involved, the better. Over the last few years we have had very good participation -- in fact record numbers.'' Mr. Barnes admitted that good weather was key to attracting a huge crowd and he said he will be praying for sunny skies.

This year's fair will run from April 24 to the 26 and will feature several revised categories.

"Many of the categories have been revised,'' he revealed. "For example the Professional Culinary category has been revised and there will be special promotions, like with the Kids Healthy Lunch Boxes.'' Anyone interested in obtaining a catalogue for the fair can call or write to the Agriculture Department or pick one up from their office at the Botanical Gardens. Previous participants will receive one in the mail.
