Child's Wish.

A Child's Wish attempts to grant wishes and act in the benefit of children experiencing some catastrophic event, life threatening illness or ongoing medical challenge.

"It's an area that touches everyone,'' said Kardias member Deborah Jackson.

"Everyone can relate to this charity.

"We also chose this charity because we wanted to help a new charity, especially one that hasn't had any major fund-raising events.'' Every wish granted by the organisation, which was founded in 1998, suits that child's specific desires and circumstances.

The wishes range from the simple, like karate or dance classes, to the grand, like family vacations.

A Child's Wish aims to help children feel embraced by their community, believing that children require joy and laughter to maintain hope and that when a community shows a child they care, it enhances their resilience and self esteem.

"It is such a worthwhile cause,'' added Kardias member Betty Peterson. "I'm sure that everyone will want to support them.''
