Tennis teenagers shine in Barbados
International junior tournament in Barbados yesterday.
Zarah DeSilva and Danielle Downey, already through to today's semi-finals of the under-14 girls singles, teamed up to win the under-14 doubles title, while Jonathan Wardman and Jovan Whitter booked a spot in the semi-finals of boys under-14 doubles.
DeSilva and Downey came out tops in a three-team round robin when they defeated Anna Lee Bryant of Barbados and Hannah Pritchard of Great Britain 6-4, 6-4, and then Whitney Renfern and Michelle Watson of Surinam 6-3, 6-4.
Wardman and Whitter defeated Faron Carter of Barbados and Brian Simon of Antigua 7-5, 6-2 and now meet the second seeds Kareem Bedminster of Antigua and Rayn Russell of Jamaica in today's semi finals.
Should DeSilva and Downey win their singles semi-finals today they will meet in tomorrow's under-14 final.
