Man nabbed exposing himself for camera
took pictures, was fined $300 in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Feliciano Serrano, of New Jersey, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared before Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis.
"Did you genuinely have the impression that this was a beach where nude behaviour is permitted?'' Mr. Francis asked the visitor.
"It was not my intent to disrespect Bermuda,'' Serrano replied. "I was not aware of Bermudian law and there were no signs up to say it was a public beach.
"I didn't actually expose myself as indicated (by Police) and there were no other people around. But I take full responsibility.'' Sgt. Earl Kirby, prosecuting, said Beach Squad officers spotted the two US citizens at Chaplain Bay Beach in Warwick on March 31.
He said Serrano was seen to pull down his swim suit and expose himself to his partner, who took photos.
Sgt. Kirby added that this was Serrano's second trip to the Island and he had no previous convictions.
