weekend on the run -- about the $50,000 Ferry Reach robbery.

Police Commissioner Mr. Lennet (Lennie) Edwards made the disclosure yesterday as he appealed for witnesses to a spate of recent incidents -- including two suspected murders -- to come forward.

The robbery occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on Thursday after a man travelling from St. George's was flagged down and assaulted, suffering serious head wounds.

"An hour or two after that we received information Rogers had escaped,'' said Mr. Edwards.

Rogers is also suspected of two armed robberies in Jennings Land and Flatts, and being behind car thefts and break-ins in Spanish Point.

As well as Roger's escape, Mr. Edwards commented on two suspected murders -- that of Mr. Irvin (Ivan) Leonard Gromer Dunlop and Mr. Vincello Sinclair (Johnny Pepper) Richardson.

Police yesterday launched a full-scale investigation into Mr. Dunlop's death.

Det. Insp Jonathan Smith also appealed for help at a Press conference yesterday at the St. Paul AME church where the 48-year-old golf caddy was found dead in an alleyway on Tuesday afternoon.

He is believed to have no fixed address and was a regular user of public transportation.

Anyone who may have seen Dunlop in the 48 hours leading up to the discovery of his body is asked to contact Police. Annonymous information can be left on the Code-a-phone at 295-1140.

Mr. Richardson, a former Fort St. Catherine curator, was pulled from St.

George's Harbour last Friday.

An autopsy revealed he had head injuries probably inflicted before he entered the water.

Mr. Edwards said the investigation into Mr. Richardson's death was progressing well.

Police were following up a number of leads but had not made any arrests yet.

"We don't see a connection between the deaths,'' said Mr. Edwards.

Mr. Edwards added he did not see any pattern among the recent incidents. It was coincidental they had occurred all of a sudden.

"Needless to say we would ask for help from the public,'' Mr. Edwards continued.

Mr. Edwards dismissed any suggestion of a rift between himself and Prison Commissioner Mr. Edward Dyer following convicted sex attacker Rogers' escape.

Rogers, a 32-year-old carpenter, escaped from the Ferry Reach Prison Farm last Thursday by climbing through a bathroom window from which he had removed iron bars.
