Stafford takes over Home Paint
DIY enthusiasts and commercial painters alike will be able to satisfy their creative needs courtesy of a newly-rebranded paint shop in Pemroke.
Stafford Paint, formerly Home Paint, was officially launched yesterday by new owner and entrepreneur Randy Stafford, who is also the president of flooring firm Stafford Flooring.
The store, which is based in St. John's Road, will feature everything from a standard range of paints to in-store colour and composition selection charts and even sales experts on hand to give tips and advice on home improvement projects.
Mr. Stafford explained that the takeover deal came about after visiting the shop on a regular basis to buy solutions and he saw an opportunity to go into business there.
"I visited Boston several years ago when negotiating with California Paints and was taken to a distributor, pretty much like ourselves, who sells flooring and paint," he said. "As Stafford Paint moves forward, we will be able to sell finishes for people's walls and we are now introducing some floor products to be sold directly to the contract and the home owner for DIY as well.
"Some of the products we have here are DIY-developed in that they don't require much expertise to use. So now you can pick a colour for your wall and also pick your floor very quickly."
The store will also begin holding seminars both through TV monitors and face-to-face with experts to show the avid DIY-er how to brighten up, rejuvenate and upgrade any room in their home.
Meanwhile, the business aims to give commercial customers all the professional resources they need to service their clients, as paints like Stopz, which eliminates mould and mildew, will be added to the Stafford Paint range as well, alongside the traditional leading manufacturers for architectural finishes, including Pratt & Lambert and the California Paint Company.
Mr. Stafford is also hoping to develop the strong relationship his company has with the interior design community, culminating in them offering their skills and expertise to customers on the shop floor.
"We are excited to enter into the paint supply industry in Bermuda," he said. "Home Paint has a long history of high-quality products, experienced staff and excellent service.
"We plan to influence the store with the Stafford Flooring style and offer products to our customers at a price they can afford with the service they expect.
"With proliferation of home improvement magazines and television shows as well as increasing interest in DIY projects, the combination of Stafford Flooring and Stafford Paint make home improvement shopping easier for our customers.
"In Bermuda almost everyone is into all the DIY and interior design shows and customers are always coming in and asking if we do the products they have seen on TV. And here, with the floor space and resources we have, we can show them and let them try how to achieve that."
Plans are also afoot to put something back into the community in conjunction with the paint manufacturers to help out charitable organisations with various projects, while a series of sales will be held at the shop throughout next month.
As for the name, Mr. Stafford, explained that it is all about customers recognising and understanding the Stafford brand.
"We have changed the company name and colour design of the building because Stafford Flooring has been in business for 20 years and we already have a winning name and customers can have the confidence to know that they are going to get the same high level of service in the store."
