Woman describes alleged sex assault — by another woman
A 29-year-old woman has claimed that another female sexually assaulted her in the bathroom of a Front Street bar in 2005.
The woman told Magistrates' Court this week that another woman rubbed her stomach and groped her breasts while she was at The Beach, now the Bermuda Bistro bar, on April 9, 2005.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, claimed that the 31-year-old Paget accused stumbled into the bathroom and attempted to join another lady in a stall.
The complainant said: "She asked if she could come into the same stall as her and my friend said no.
"She then turned towards me and rubbed my stomach in a circular motion. I told her I wasn't pregnant and not to touch me.
"She said 'don't worry about it' and then she rubbed my breasts, both of them. She cupped them.
"I pushed her hand away and stepped away from her and I told her that she was not allowed touch me.
"I also told her that she should not touch people like that without their consent."
The complainant also told the court that the Paget woman confronted her outside the bar and the two argued before getting into a physical altercation.
The Paget woman has denied sexually assaulting the complainant or unlawfully assaulting her. The trial will resume on March 9 before Magistrate Juan Wolffe.
