Photography's future is here — at P-Tech

With an investment of $400,000, the new photo development booth at P-Tech is truly state-of-the-art, bringing technological services that the Island has never seen before.

In addition to traditional printing services, where you drop of your film and pick it up the next day, customers now have the option to e-mail their photos into the store through the company’s website, www.ptech.bm, or to use the instant photo booths at the store by inserting their digital camera’s memory card, selecting the photos they wish and hitting print.

There is also a choice of two kinds of printing. All photos that are produced on the large Fuji silver oxide machine have a colour guarantee of 100 years. The instant photos are created using a heat transfer system, have a 25 to 50 year guarantee on colour stability.

Website customers can also order photo cards and create their own online photo galleries, from which family and friends can choose their own prints.

Prints are available in a variety of sizes. The largest size print available is 18-inches by 12-inches and costs $29.95.

Phoenix Stores president and CEO, George Grundm|0xfc|ller says that P-Tech plans on taking the online photography services to the next level in the next month or so, offering a professional application for professional photographers and event planners.

Photographers and organisers will soon be able to upload photos from private collections and special events to their own galleries. Persons interested in purchasing prints can then view thumbnails online, make their choices and print them through P-Tech’s photo lab. Professionals will be able to set their own prices, which will include a small fee paid to P-Tech for the service.

“It takes care of the billing so the photographer gets paid for it,” Mr. Grundm|0xfc|ller explains.

The exact date when this new service becomes available is yet to be determined, as the project is still in its developmental stage: “But the response has been overwhelming.”
