Student film on Brown's College tour airs tonight
A former art student's 30-minute documentary about Premier Ewart Brown's College tour earlier this year will air on TV tonight.
Produced by local filmmaker Rosheena Beek who attended the Arts Institute in Buckhead, Georgia, the film is called "Premier's College Tour 2007".
Last night Ms Beek said she wanted to do something on the visits to students by the Premier because the trip was a first for a leader of Bermuda.
She said: "I wanted to do this because I thought it was historical. No leader had done this before. That was my premise — to document the Premier meeting with such a large number of Bermudians to encourage them to come back."
Ms Beek produced the film without any assistance from Government and it includes interviews with students, Premier Brown, and Bermudian employers, who played a major role in the Premier's efforts overseas.
The entire piece, which runs 90 minutes long was condensed to run as a 30-minute program tonight on ZBM-TV 9 at 8 p.m. It will focus on two stops from the Premier's tour — Atlanta, Georgia and Hunstville, Alabama.
Dr. Brown last night encouraged Bermuda's university-aged students to watch the documentary.
"The main purpose of the tour was to let our young and brightest minds know there is high demand for their talents here at home," Premier Brown said.
"This documentary captures that message extremely well. I hope all of our university students will watch, especially those who did not have the chance to experience the tour in person."
