Police identify man found dead in King Street
Police have released the name of a man found dead on King Street in Hamilton, Sunday morning, as 58-year-old Conrad Rogers, of no fixed abode.
Police confirmed they are not treating the death as suspicious, however, an autopsy is anticipated in due course.
Mr. Rogers, found in a non-responsive state at around 9.30 a.m., was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor at 10.32 a.m. A Police spokesman was not in a position to confirm the exact location of the body when it was discovered.
The Bermuda Police Service said it extended its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Rogers.
The news came after a severely decomposed body was discovered adjacent to Victor Scott Primary School on Glebe Road earlier this month.
The Royal Gazette understands that the deceased - who has not been formally named by Police - was an elderly person also of no fixed address.
That incident prompted Minister for Social Rehabilitation Dale Butler to express hope that a scheme to build a new shelter for the homeless will press ahead soon.
He said at the time that the discovery of the body underscored the need for a facility with a programme in place to assist people who "fall through the cracks".
