Bogus email has Police logo

Ignore e-mails that say you can call the Police by entering your PIN code backwards at the ATM machine.

According to Police an e-mail is making the rounds with their official logo attached. The e-mail suggests that by entering your PIN number backwards it will call the Police.

The email would have the public believe that if someone is being attacked, as they were a week ago at the Lindo's in Devonshire they can easily summon Police in this manner.

A Police spokesperson last night, however, said this will not work and the public should not be fooled into thinking this just because the Bermuda Police Service logo is attached to the email.

He said: "If you're in trouble, call 911. It (the ATM) won't help you."

Two Burglaries

Following the Police Press conference this week which reported an increase in burglaries two more were reported on Wednesday evening.

The first call was at 5.50 p.m. when Police arrived at a Hawthorn Lane, Southampton home where the complainants said that sometime between 8.30 a.m. and 3.40 p.m. someone entered their home.

A quantity of jewellery was stolen.

Police then responded to a 6 p.m. report of a burglary at an Orange Valley Road, Devonshire home where the complainant said between 8 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. someone entered her home and stole jewellery.

Inquiries into both incidents are underway.
