You're my inspiration! Photographer meets boy in prize-winning picture
An amateur photographer from Britain yesterday met the Bermudian boy who inspired an award-winning photograph.
Pamela Brown came to The Royal Gazette on Monday hoping to track down a boy that she had taken a snapshot of while on vacation last year, but admitted she didn't want to get her hopes up about finding him.
After the story appeared in yesterday's paper, The Royal Gazette received several calls coming from people who recognised ten-year-old Colin Browne from West End Primary, including his mother Coral-Lee.
His mother admitted she was surprised when a family member showed her the story, but she agreed to meet up with the tourist and collect the photograph.
"I love it. It's truly him," said his mother.
"(Colin) is a funny little guy because the things that he would come out and say.
"I could see him saying: 'I'm tired, I want to go home now'."
The picture of Colin Browne, brought Mrs. Brown some recognition back in her hometown of Ringwood, on the South coast of England, after she entered it into a local competition and won first place.
The judge commended the photo for its detail and called it 'a very powerful image'.
Though Mrs. Brown, who has been visiting the Island since 1997 with her husband, thought it was foolish to bring the picture on her vacation back to the Island, in a stroke of luck was able to hand over and sign the photo for the boy, writing: "Thanks for being such a super-model".
