Man denies possessing drugs worth $500,000 with intent to supply

A 44-year-old Warwick man appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday to answer charges of possessing $500,000 of cannabis and cannabis resin with intent to supply.

Curtis Simmons was told by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner that the charges were indictable.

He pleaded not guilty to both counts.

His trial will be held on November 9.

Crown counsel Larissa Burgess alleged that on September 6, Police found Simmons in possession of 7,100.7 grams of cannabis with a street value of $335,000 and 1,519.4 grams of cannabis resin worth an estimated $151,900, after officers executed a search warrant on a Warwick residence.

Simmons was required to surrender his travel documents and was bailed in the amount of $20,000 plus one surety. He is represented by defence lawyer Rick Woolridge.
