Bermuda's number one golfer Michael Sims enjoyed an excellent first day of the $600,000 Nationwide Tour Xerox Classic tied in tenth position.
Sims finished his first round at the Irondequoit Country Club, New York, shooting a two-under par 68 with four birdies, 12 pars and two bogeys. Play had been delayed due to inclement weather.
He had withdrawn from the Nationwide Tour Northeast Pennsylvania Classic, in Scranton, last Thursday after a first-round three-over par 74 which left him tied for 126th in the 156-man field.
