Changes for Cable viewers

TV channel HBO will no longer be available to analogue CableVision viewers from next month as the switchover to an all-digital service continues.

CableVision is pulling the plug on the old analogue signal as part of a move to upgrade TV networks to digital around the world, particularly in the US where the cable channels originate.

As part of the conversion process, HBO, which appears as channel 71 in Bermuda, will be removed on December 18. CableVision managers say the vast majority of subscribers in Bermuda have already chosen to upgrade to digital and will not be affected by the change.

Alan Smith, CableVision assistant general manager, said: “Our conversion to an all-digital network is progressing well.

“We are now preparing for the third phase of the digital conversion process, which involves the removal of channel 71, the analogue HBO channel, from our line-up.

“Naturally, this change will not affect our digital customers, or those analogue customers who do not subscribe to HBO on channel 71.”
