Breaking news: Namibia score 280-9
Sarel Burger scored 71 runs not out today to lead Namibia to 280-9 on the first day of their Intercontinental Cup match at the National Sports Centre.
Namibia, aiming to reach the final of the Cup for the first time, wobbled a little when bottom-placed Bermuda had the southern African team on 75-3 thanks to two wickets from spinner Dwayne (Sluggo) Leverock, but Burger and Gerrie Snyman put the visitors back on course with a 68-run fourth wicket partnership.
Earlier, JB Burger contributed 42 of the first 60 runs before being out lbw to Stefan Kelly.
Bermuda were struck a blow when seamer Ryan Steede had to leave the field after bowling eight overs, but Delyone Borden proved to be the most economical of Bermuda's bowlers, as he delivered 22 overs for 44 runs, two wickets and eight maidens. Kelly bowled 23 overs for 58 runs, two wickets and seven maidens. Rodney (Picnic) Trott also claimed two wickets, but conceded 58 runs off his ten overs.
Bermuda will now be looking for a quick wicket tomorrow morning so they can start batting.
