Energy Trust conference starts, benefits Bermuda charity

Bermuda's Family Centre is set to benefit from a windfall from Pengrowth Energy Trust at their 2007 Fall Investment Conference for the second year running.

The conference, which is being held at the Fairmont Southampton resort for the third consecutive year from today until Sunday, will offer an insight into a number of facets of the energy industry, including the current climate and looking towards the future, and will feature some renowned experts in a variety of inter-related fields with respect to the sector, such as investment and banking communities across Canada, the US and Europe.

This year's speakers will include Finance Minister Paula Cox, David Hale, founding chairman of Hale Advisors in Chicago, Henry Groppe, partner of Groppe, Long & Littell in Houston, Zachariah Allen, president of Pan Eurasian Enterprises Inc. in Raleigh, Larry Jeddeloh, managing director and chief investment officer of TIS Group in Minneapolis, Harry Jung, president of GLJ Petroleum Consultants Ltd. in Calgary and Dirk Lever, analyst with RBC Capital Markets in Toronto.

Pengrowth, who are based in Calgary, Alberta and have been in operation for the past 18 years, are one of North America's top energy income trusts and chairman, president and CEO, Jim Kinnear, said they are delighted to be returning to Bermuda.

"The unique setting provided by this beautiful island enhances our conference and provides us with the opportunity to introduce potential new investors to the investment opportunities offered by the Canadian oil and gas sector and specifically Pengrowth."

The company will carry on its tradition of giving something back to the local community by making a $10,800 donation to Bermuda's Family Centre, following their generous offering of $10,000 last year, as Martha Dismont, executive director of the Family Centre accepted the cheque at the welcome reception yesterday.

"We are delighted to welcome Pengrowth back to Bermuda and are so heartened once again by their generosity," said Mrs. Dismont.

"Pengrowth have set an example to companies visiting the Island that it is not all about business or even pleasure, but it is the people who make up the Island that encourage our repeat guests.

"Our families are at the core of those people and our mission is to strengthen those families. The funds donated by Pengrowth will be allocated directly to our Caring for Families Programme."
