120 KPMG staff raise $15,000 for Riding for the Disabled
Staff at KPMG Bermuda raised $15,000.00 for the Bermuda Riding for the Disabled (BRD) charity. The money was raised during KPMG’s fourth annual “Make a Difference Day” (MADD) when 120 of the firm’s employees participated in a sponsored walk.
Senior Manager, Marketing at KPMG, Joanne MacPhee, said its theme was “Going the Distance for the Disabled.”
“With donations from family, friends and colleagues who were unable to participate due to client commitments, the staff collectively raised $15,000 for the Bermuda Riding for the Disabled. The principle distance was 16 miles, from KPMG’s Par-la-Ville offices to Dockyard. Others walked the shorter seven and a half or two and a half mile course joining colleagues along the way at various west end ferry stops,” she said.
BRD President, Moya Benbow was delighted the charity had been selected as the beneficiaries of the sponsored walk.
She said: “The Bermuda Riding for the Disabled is extremely pleased to have been chosen as the recipients of the KPMG’s Make A Difference Day walk. Having corporations support our worthy charity allows the BRD to bring awareness to our organisation and raise the much needed funds that are required to continue to support our 60 plus riders who participate in the weekly riding therapy.
“Without companies such as KPMG we would not be able to continue this very successful programme.”
Madd is a multi-national KPMG Corporate Social Responsibility initiative and the walk-a-thon was just one of 40 challenges completed by more than 1400 KPMG volunteers worldwide.
