<Bz29>BSX falls over week
The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange fell slightly yesterday to round off an overall drop of 0.38 percent — or 18.34 points — for the week.
Yesterday's main activity centred on Butterfield Bank, whose stock price remained unchanged at $56.25 after 200 shares changed hands. Butterfield Bank was also the most traded issue for the holiday-shortened trading week with 2,652 shares changing hands to leave the issue closing 25 cents down over the three days the BSX was open.
The only other issues to see activity yesterday were Watlington Waterworks Ltd. and Belco Holdings Ltd.
One hundred Watlington shares traded yesterday, as its share price dipped $1.50, or 10.7 percent for both the day and the week. Nine hundred Watlington shares changed hands over the week.
Belco saw 20 of its shares traded yesterday as it closed unchanged at $23.
Over the week, one issue advanced — BF&M Ltd., which rose 25 cents (1.41 percent) on trading of 400 shares to close at $18. Three companies saw their share price decline — Butterfield bank, Watlington and Bermuda Commercial Bank, which fell 75 cents (8.11 percent) to close the week at $8.50.
At the close yesterday the Index stood at 4,860.34, down 2.57 points for the day. Volume was light for the week, with 4,726 shares worth $177,090.70 changing hands.
