Under-13s get first win
Bermuda Under-13s chalked up their first victory in the Regional Invitational Cricket Festival in fine style with a ten-wicket win over Anguilla in St.Kitts.
With both teams searching for their first win of the tournament there was always going to be plenty to play for, but the colts proved too good thanks to a 92-run opening stand between Jonte' Smith (45) Tre' Manders (34).
Anguilla won the toss and elected to bat on a flat, fast track but Bermuda soon made the breakthrough with Naquan Smith uprooting Javon Coppin for 11.
Tre' Manders, voted man-of-the-match, then bowled Vershon Hodge with his first delivery for 21, before picking up another two wickets to help reduce Anguilla to 91 for seven of 25 overs.
Bermuda then cruised to the target with Manders hitting three boundaries in his 34, while Smith showed his ability to accumulate an innings scoring his 45 off 52 balls, with one boundary.
The Regional Invitational Cricket Festival is the tenth annual festival and the only competition of its kind in the region. Bermuda is competing against nine other national teams from around the Caribbean and will play at least five games.
They lost their opening game against Dominica by 69 runs on Wednesday, before being defeated by Trinidad and Tobago by five wickets on Thursday. Bermuda take on Antigua today.
