Artists invited to express themselves through their art in new exhibition
An exhibition set to encompass all forms of art will get underway later this month at the Bermuda Society of Arts — The People's Gallery.
Victoria Evans-Cracknell, director of the Bermuda Society of Arts is calling for artists to take part in Artist's Voices: An Exhibition of Visual Expression of Artist's Intent.
Although the show opens on February 22 and runs until March 12, Mrs. Evans-Cracknell stressed that all entries need to be in by or before February 20.
"The show is open to all visual artists, painters, mixed-media artists and photographers," she said.
"In the performing arts: we welcome musicians, dancers and poets.
"Self expression through art, whether dance music, painting, prose is as old as mankind itself.
"We are calling all artists in Bermuda to express themselves through their art — one's own interpretation of what art means to them.
"Anything goes. The goal is to convey an idea of what art is and involve the interest of the viewer. You may use whatever medium, painting, illustration, photography, digital, sculpture, music, writing, poetry, etc. or combinations of all.
"This is a great opportunity to express yourself."
She said the show was intended to support all artistic expression.
"This is truly what BSoA is all about," Ms Evans-Cracknell said.
"I want to encourage all people to put pen to paper, paint to canvas, eye to lens or hands to a drum, whatever your medium is make it happen from your heart and express yourself through The People's Gallery."
"It is open to all, it is not necessary to be a BSoA member for this show," she said.
"Also the hanging fee has been waived. Artwork will also be sold."
With all of the above, Mrs. Evans-Cracknell added that there would also be the Mayor's Choice Award, the Minister's Choice Award and People's Choice Award. The prizes are $100 gift certificates in each category.
