Breaking News: Creamery to cease local products
The Bermuda Creamery will stop making local products at the end of this month, it was announced today.
Bermuda Creamery, part of the Gibbons Group, has been the producer of Freeza Fresh and Bermuda Creamery ice creams as well as Simmons sherberts for more 20 years. It has also been the distributor for a wide range of imported novelties and ice creams, including Ben and Jerry’s.
The local products will continue to be manufactured until May 31 and will be available at shops while supplies last.
Mr. David Gibbons, Director of the Bermuda Creamery, said: “As part of our long term plans we have decided to concentrate on our other core businesses.
“Negotiations are underway to sell parts of the business, and we will be approaching other companies to sell off the remaining parts. It is hoped that negotiations will be completed over the next two to three weeks.
“Bermuda Creamery is extremely grateful to the loyal employees who have served the company for the past several years. The success of the Freeza Fresh, Simmons and Bermuda Creamery brands have always been dependent upon qualified Bermudians’ ability to produce a first class product.”
