Breaking News: Belco restores power to homes
Power has been restored to thousands of homes following a temporary shut down by BELCO.
Engine failure forced the company to shut off power this morning in a bid to restore capacity.
The power was shut off around 9.50 a.m. and restored at 11.06 a.m.
A statement released by the electricity company earlier today said about 7,000 homes in the Island’s eastern and central parishes were affected.
“Load shed was initiated when an engine failed. Staff are working to restore generation capacity, and expect to have customers back on line within the hour,” the statement read.
“BELCO has a planned rotation in place for load sheds, so that if rotating outages are required, they will be shared equally across the Island.”
Read about it in tomorrow’s Royal Gazette.
