Breaking News: Teenager injured in 36th accident involving a Police car
A 17-year-old girl was injured in the 36th accident involving a Police vehicle this year.
The Smith’s parish woman was riding east on North Shore Road, near Jennings Road, shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday when the collision occurred.
A Police spokesman said: “It appears a marked Police car was travelling with its emergency equipment activated (lights and sirens) with the auxiliary cycle travelling in the same direction ahead of the police car when the vehicles collided.
“The rider of the cycle sustained abrasions to her face, arms and legs. The police officer was not injured.”
According to the spokesman, the cycle received rear end damage, while the Police car received front end damage. The spokesman also said that the incident is being investigated.
Including this incident, eight people have been injured in accidents involving Police vehicles this year.
The Police Complaints Authority has previously expressed concern about the frequency of the incidents.
