Well I never! Golfer sinks two aces in one round
Until yesterday golfer David Bart had never had a hole-in-one.
Then, in the most amazing round of his life, the Canadian eight-handicapper celebrated two in the space of five holes.
Competing in the Port Royal Club Championships, Bart aced both the par-three 12th and par-three 16th, achieving a feat which has likely never happened before in Bermuda and only rarely anywhere else in the world.
The odds of two holes-in-one in the same round by the same player are reportedly around 67 million to one.
Last night as Bart celebrated in the Port Royal clubhouse ? totting up a bar bill which had already reached "four figures" ? he still couldn't believe his luck.
"It was just amazing," said the 32-year-old, who works in Bermuda as general manager of Applied Computer Technologies.
"We got to the 12th hole where the pin was at the back of the green and the guy I was playing with hit his shot to about six feet. I took an eight iron and I thought it was also close, but because it's uphill we couldn't see where it landed.
"When we got up to the green we could only see one ball so I looked into the cup and there it was.
"At 16, I hit an eight iron again and I thought it was short. But it took one hop and disappeared into the hole. It was unbelievable.
"We're expecting our first child in two and a half weeks, so this is going to be some month!"
