Tucker hits ton in debut Down Under
Southampton Rangers cricketer Kwame Tucker stroked a polished century (108) playing in his first match in his new surroundings in Australia.
Details were sketchy last night. However, it appears as though the Rangers? wicketkeeper is already bearing fruit from his cricket studies Down Under.
It is understood Tucker featured in a second-wicket partnership worth 148 runs while compatriot George O?Brien also came good with the new ball, grabbing two early wickets on a lively track.
The two Bermudians departed for Brisbane last Saturday to undergo a three-month stint at the city?s cricket academy.
Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) president Reggie Pearman told : ?I am very pleased to receive the good news and it appears as though some of our hard work is paying off.
?I wish these players continued success and also our senior national team that is heading off to Dubai. Hopefully we can have more cricketers enrolled in overseas academies.?
According to Kwame Tucker?s cousin, Janeiro Tucker, who will captain Bermuda in upcoming matches against the United Arab Emirates, instructors at the academy have placed emphasis on the player?s batting stance since his arrival nearly a week ago.
The deputising Bermuda skipper said: ?He?s now batting more upright because before he tended to lean over the bat too much.?
