Speed cameras make sense

Why are people so uptight about the new speed-detection cameras? Let's be sensible here. The official speed limit is 35kph, but "everybody knows" that it's very rare for anyone to get booked doing less than 50kph, so let's set the cameras for 50kph. However, if people want to guarantee not getting caught by them, the simple answer is - slow down!

Dear Sir,

Why are people so uptight about the new speed-detection cameras? Let's be sensible here. The official speed limit is 35kph, but "everybody knows" that it's very rare for anyone to get booked doing less than 50kph, so let's set the cameras for 50kph. However, if people want to guarantee not getting caught by them, the simple answer is - slow down!

By the way, how many motorists who commute from the East End have seen the sign by the Perfume Factory? The sign itself indicates the presence of a pedestrian crossing, but just below the picture is a warning: "Speed checked by detection devices". Tthe mind boggles!
