Mum of missing teens makes television appeal

The mother of two missing teenage boys last seen in New Orleans the night before Hurricane Katrina struck, appeared on the television programme ?CNN with Nancy Grace? on Tuesday night.

Jean La Montagne was due to appear on Larry King?s Saturday show, however, the worry-stricken mother was bumped off the show by celebrities, her cousin Stacy Simmons said yesterday.

?The episode was taped,? Mrs. Simmons said. ?She was able to get a little air time, which was good, because all she wanted was for her boys pictures to get out on everyone?s TV world-wide.

?We had some calls from people. There was one from a Bermudian that lives in Texas and has connections. He said he will have his connection search all the shelters for Jean and when she comes she and her family can stay with him ? he will do anything to help,? she said.

?Jean right now is still very much up set, because all she is saying is ?I want my boys!?

Jean still has not found her boys, but was expected to arrive back in Bermuda yesterday for two days and then will fly to Texas to search for her sons Jamel and Jashun Thomas, aged 17 and 19 years-old.

Mrs. La Montagne could not be reached last night.

The Salvation Army in Bermuda is appealing not only for donations, but also manpower to help the more than 200,000 victims of Hurricane Katrina currently being cared for in shelters across the Southern US.

Major Lindsay Rowe said the Salvation Army in Bermuda was currently working with their offices in the Southern USA to send work teams to assist with providing comfort and food to the many thousands sheltered in four states.

?The Salvation Army has over 200,000 victims in shelters and it is a mammoth task to feed and care for them,? he said.

Major Rowe said members of the public wishing to donate money or time, could go on line at www.sab.bm, by mail at The Salvation Army Box 2259, Hamilton HM JX or by visiting the Salvation Army offices at 10 North Street.
