Stunt ride extravaganza

Bermuda?s motorcycle enthusiasts will be treated to a some daredevil stunt riding guaranteed to keep them on the edge of their seats during Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club?s season finale at Clearwater tomorrow.

Here to thrill local race fans are 600cc stunt riders Jessica Maine of New Mexico and California?s Jason Britton ? star of Speed Channel?s popular weekly series SuperBike.

Maine has been entertaining motorcycle fans in the US for the past two years.

The female stunt rider is also a sophomore at New Mexico University and at age 21 owns her own web designing and vinyl sticker companies.

Maine was bitten by the stunt riding bug as a teenager.

?People who I rode with did wheelies and stuff. They were all guys obviously, but I started copying them and doing what they do and people started praising me,? the multi talented athlete told .

Britton, meanwhile, needs little introduction as his popular television programme attracts over 25 million viewers on a weekly basis worldwide, including Bermuda.

In early 2000 the 37-year-old veteran stunt rider released the popular video Urban Assault.

?That kind of sprouted the whole stunt riding thing,? Britton said. ?That?s when skate boarding was a crime and we used to ride wheelies down the highway, illegally.

?That was the thing to do and I used to wheelie everything before I started getting into street bikes.?

Britton refused to reveal his arsenal of stunts, only stating that ?Bermudians are going to lose their minds?.

?You got to come out to believe it,? he added. ?I can guarantee you, you have never seen anything like this before.?

Both riders will entertain local fans throughout tomorrow?s final race day of the 2006 season, which promises to be equally exciting with the championship in three categories still up for grabs.

In the Scooter Class, only five points separate third-placed John Cook from current leader and brother Ed Cook.

Devone Bailey, a striker with Premier Division Paget Lions, sits in second place.

Shannon Caisey leads the JP 125cc class. But the race for the championship remains wide open with defending champ Cyril Whitter and Jevaughn Simons still within striking distance of the title.

The 600cc class also promises to go down to the wire, with David Jones, Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club president, and Marvin Robinson tied heading to the final day of the season.

?It?s been a fantastic season and I just want to thank the Bermuda public for supporting all season long,? Jones said.

?I would also like to thank my committee, especially my sister (Sheila). The fans definitely have to come out to see Bermuda?s first SuperBike Stunt Riding Show.?

Donations towards medical costs for cancer stricken JP 125cc racer Kyle Pimental can be made during tomorrow?s race.

?This day is obviously for him as well,? Jones said. ?So we are hoping the fans can dig a little deeper into their pockets and help support Kyle with his medical bills.?
