A man who was caught with heroin last August said he had no idea what the twist he was carrying contained.

Dennis King Simmons of Pembroke told the court he picked a twist off the ground because, ?I didn?t think it was That. I thought it was something else.? The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence but said he had an explanation.

He said he was going to get a fish sandwich when he stopped to speak to friends. He noticed a twist on the ground, he said, and picked it up. Simmons said he did not inspect the twist then because it may have belonged to one of his friends. ?I just acted cool, I thought it was something else?.

After leaving his friends he was stopped by Police on St. Monica?s Road. The twist were uncovered and the he was arrested. The twist was found to contain approximately two grams of heroin. He was fined $600 for the offence.
