Senators keep win streak alive
Senators 3 Leafs 2
THE Bermuda In-Line Hockey League featured competitive Intermediate League action last Saturday with the Senators continuing their winning ways by defeating the Leafs 3-2 in the opening game. Cameron Neal opened the scoring with a nice low wrist shot between the legs of Leafs netminder Connor Lines from long range.
The Senators continued to press the action with Neal picking up his second goal ripping a low shot by Lines after a nice cross-rink feed from linemate Tadhg O'Shaughnessy. The opening frame ended with Lines making a number of key saves to keep the Leafs in the game. The Leafs showed new life in the final period with Matthew Betteto putting them on the board with a nice tap-in after Mikey Daly did some hard work in the corner digging the ball out. Daly took over the game for a short stretch taking several hard shots that Senators Ben Williams did well to keep out. Daly finally tied it up with a hard low shot after streaking down the left wing. The game clock ticked down to the final minutes when Nikolas Miranthis put the game away for the Senators batting in his own rebound after some strong forechecking by Tyson Harvey. Senator Coach Heintzman said after the game: "The boys seem to be understanding my system and hitting their stride. Our goal is to run the table from here on in."

Canadiens 3 Oilers 3
The second Intermediate game saw the Canadiens battling the Oilers. This game featured a lot of end-to-end action by two fast skating squads. The Canadiens opened the scoring when Reid Orchard sent a long shot to clear his own end which eluded Oiler goaltender Sam Brooks. The Canadiens continued to press the action and opened a 2-0 lead with guest player Daniel Heintzman drilling a wrist shot in the far corner through a maze of players. The Canadiens lead would have been much greater except for the heroics of goaltender Brooks who made several key saves. The opening period was ticking down when Adam Weech finally got the Oilers back in the game flicking a shot over Canadiens goaltender Riley Voth taking a nice pass in stride from winger Toby Brooks. The second period saw the pace pick up with both sides pressing the action. Weech tied the game after picking up a loose ball near his own blue line, skated the end of the rink before sending a hard wrist shot through the legs of goaltender Krishna Boudram who took over duties from Voth.
Weech completed his three goal hat trick flicking a shot into the top of the net after a nice three way passing play with Brooks and Laird Simmons. Beckett Simmons replaced Sam Brooks as the Oiler goaltender and kept the Canadians at bay with several acrobatic saves diving back and forth between the pipes. The Canadiens finally tied the score with Riley MacNeil racing down the right side after receiving a long breakout pass from bother Tyler and blasting a low shot by Simmons. The game finished with mad scrambles at both ends but Boudram and Beckett were like "brick walls" with no further damage recorded on the scoreboard.
Action continues every Saturday behind the Pembroke Community Centre at Admiralty Park.
