The Canucks picked up the action in the final few minutes of the opening frame peppering star Oiler goaltender Beckett Simmons with difficult shots. The Canucks finally got on the board in the second period when Christina Collis solved new Oilers goalkeeper Ethan Philip knocking in a rebound off of a mad scramble in front of the net assisted by Abigail Fairies and Lara Hetzel. Not to be outdone, the Oilers turned up the heat on new Canucks goaltender Inaara Lalani who had to 'stand on her head" to keep the game close.

The constant pressure proved too much when Faries started his natural hat-trick by ripping home a shot from close in. Goal two was a thing of beauty when Faries neatly sidestepped a couple of Canucks defenders and flipped a shot over a sprawling Lalani. Faries scored his final goal threading the needle from longer range through a maze of players and finishing off nice passing play with Laird Simmons and Bradley Robinson. The Canucks completed the scoring when smooth skating Julia Scully picked up a loose ball and snapped a short from the faceoff circle by a diving Philip.

Leafs 4 Canadiens 2

This game featured an outstanding individual effort from Leafs forward Tommy Ruck and unbelievable goaltending from both teams as the fans witnessed "old time pond hockey" where offensive play was the order of the day. Alex Griffin started between the pipes for the Canadiens and faced down several Leaf shooters at point blank range before Ruck jammed home his first goal from the edge of the goalcrease. Ruck scored his second goal when he slipped one under a diving Griffin with nice assists going to sibling Taylor and Mikey Daly. Ruck completed his hat-trick by bulling his way through two defenders and snapping a shot into the back of the net. The Canadiens got untracked in the final period with Ryan Goddard slipping through the Leafs defence and wristing a shot by Josh Lines. Michael Betteto extended the Leafs lead with a nifty strip of the ball from Goddard pushing a shot by surprised new Canadiens netminder Riley MacNeil. Goodard made amends for his miscue when he drove in from the left side picking up a nice pass from Conor Lohan and Jaryd LaPointe and wristing a shot by Lines to end the scoring. The last ten minutes featured strong netminding from Lines and MacNeil who each turned away several shots headed for the back of the net. LaPointe played a strong two way game from the Canadiens and was unlucky not to put a few goals past an acrobatic Lines.
