Index falls more than 70 points

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index fell 77.98 points to close yesterday at 4,779.16On a quiet day on the Exchange, Belco gained 80 cents to close at $22 as investors traded in 504 shares.The only other trading activity on the Exchange saw Butterfield Bank decline $1.75 cents to close at $56.25 on volume of 557 shares.

The total value of the shares bought and sold on the BSX yesterday was $42,355.50 and the overall volume of shares traded was 1,061.
