BSX Index drops for week

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index dropped one percent in a week of moderate trading that saw just three stock prices change value.

The Index closed the week down 24.496 points at 2,390.66 on volume of 63,298 shares worth $1.41 million.

The Bank of Butterfield was the most active stock during the week, closing down $1 or three percent at $31.75 on volume of more than 20,000 shares.

Belco (Holdings) had a topsy-turvy week, dropping $2.50 from its close last Friday before staging a rally on Thursday and Friday to match its 52-week high of $32.50 on volume of 19,689 shares.

Bermuda Commercial Bank slid 60 cents to nine percent to close at $6 on relatively heavy volume of 16,200 shares.

The only bright spot for the week came as LOM (Holdings) Ltd. 30 cents from its 52-week low to close at $2, a rise of 17.65 percent on 5,000 shares.

The Bank of Bermuda had a quiet week on the BSX, only trading 250 shares at $36.

On the Nasdaq, the bank was trading at $36.50 on Friday after ending last week at $38.33.
