A $1 jump in the price of Belco Holdings shares drove The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index up 4.72 points on an otherwise quiet trading day yesterday.

Belco shares rose 3.3 percent to $31 on volume of 200 shares. The Index closed at 2,378.07 on volume of 4,091 shares worth $128,862. In the only other trade, the Bank of Butterfield was unchanged at $31.50 on volume of 3,891 shares.

On the Nasdaq, the Bank of Bermuda was down $1.30 at $36.50 on volume of 8,000 shares in late afternoon trading.
