A Cabinet minister is overseas receiving medical treatment, a government spokeswoman confirmed this evening.

Rumours have been spreading on social media about the issue but the spokeswoman added: “There are rumours circulating that are untrue. At this time no further information will be provided.”

Neither the identity of the minister nor the severity of the medical condition was given.
