At least ten years of experience in a senior police role is an essential requirement for the island’s next Commissioner of Police, according to an advert for the post.

The job description said that the successful candidate will be someone who is serving or has recently served as a police officer of superintendent rank or higher.

An advert published this week said: “The Commissioner of Police has overall responsibility for leading the Bermuda Police Service, creating a vision and setting direction and culture that builds public and organisational confidence.

“Such leadership is essential to successfully deliver a professional, effective and efficient policing service.

“He/She is directly accountable for the operational delivery of policing services and the effective command and leadership of the policing response to crime, major and critical incidents.”

The advert came after Stephen Corbishley resigned the post earlier this month.

He served just over three years of a five-year term.

Applications for the job can be sent to Alison Crocket, the Deputy Governor, before 9am on November 1.
