SafeKey requirement loosened as coronavirus cases continue to fall

Regulations for indoor dining and large group gatherings were last night relaxed as the number of Covid-19 continued to fall.

The SafeKey pass was required for indoor activities such as dining over the latest outbreak.

It was also mandatory for all large group gatherings, inside and outside.

But restaurants will now be allowed to accept either SafeKey or a Bermuda-issued vaccination certificate.

The amendment was made to assist people who might have problems with downloading a SafeKey.

The change also removed the requirement for SafeKey at all approved large group gatherings, whether indoors or outdoors.

But Ernest Peets, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports, will retain the power to impose conditions on any large group gathering.

SafeKey will also continue to apply to indoor events and for spectators at sporting events.

A Government spokeswoman added that SafeKey use was still encouraged for all large gatherings.
