Saltus backs food bank and Anglican meals programme
A food bank charity got an early Christmas present from fundraising efforts by pupils at a private school.
Primary schoolchildren at Saltus donated non-perishable food to the Eliza DoLittle Society as part of the school’s 24 Days of Giving campaign.
A school spokeswoman said that the charity drive was in line with lessons about leadership.
She explained: “The Year 6 students were learning about leadership. As part of leadership, they explored different types of leaders.
“One way of showing leadership can be through stewardship which reflects the idea of leadership through giving.
“Year 6 teachers shared that the students were left feeling like they could do more after their contributions to the 24 Days of Giving.”
The spokeswoman added that middle and senior school pupils also donated food hampers to Family Centre, as well as cash to the Anglican Cathedral’s meals programme.
