National Trust Palm Sunday walk back after two-year absence
The Bermuda National Trust’s popular Palm Sunday Walk is back after two years on pause because of Covid-19.
On April 10, the five-mile walk sets out from Tiger Bay in St George’s.
Hundreds are expected to explore the World Heritage Site, setting out at 1.30pm, or 2.30pm at the latest.
Parking will be available at Tiger Bay but participants are encouraged to take the ferry from Hamilton if it is available.
The route is expected to take two-and-a-half hours.
Walkers will pass sites of national significance, old military cemeteries and secluded beauty spots as well as historic buildings and monuments.
The route was planned by Myles Darrell, the trust’s head of natural heritage.
He said: “This year we are asking participants to register and donate, to help the trust cover the cost of organising the walk and to support our year-round work protecting Bermuda’s natural and cultural heritage.”

Registration is $20 for adults and teens and $10 for children aged 6 to 12.
Registration bibs are available at Waterville on 2 Pomander Road in Paget during business hours on April 8 or between 9am and noon on April 9.
All participants will be eligible to win an iPad, with the draw taking place at Waterville at 10am on April 11.
The BNT partners with property owners for the walk, and this year the charity will work with the Corporation of St George, The St George’s Foundation, Department of Parks and others in the Olde Towne.
Mr Darrell said that the trust encouraged people to come early for lunch or stay late for dinner and spend some time shopping.
Participants were advised to wear appropriate shoes and to note that the route is not suitable for strollers.
Dogs are not permitted.
Drivers in the area on April 10 were asked to use care, as walkers will be on sections of the road for most of the afternoon.
The trust thanked John Barritt & Son Ltd for providing refreshments for another year.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own drinks containers as water will be provided at the start, finish and halfway point.
Hot Cross buns made by Sweet Saak Bakery will be available for a donation at the halfway point.
BNT water bottles, books, memberships and merchandise will be on sale at the start and end points.
Participants are asked to bring cash to support BNT and St George’s businesses.
