The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries said anyone caught taking, attempting to take, injuring, selling, purchasing or in possession of a spiny lobster between April 1 and August 31 will be guilty of an offence against the Fisheries Regulations. Convictions under these rules may carry a penalty of a fine up to $5,000 and /or a year's imprisonment.

BANNED RIDER STOPPED CTS Banned rider stopped Police arrested a Southampton youth after stopping a group of reckless young riders.

Spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said the 16-year-old rider was arrested at 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday for driving while disqualified.

The youth was with nine other riders who were stopped on East Broadway in Pembroke.

P.c. Venning said the riders were speeding and riding in an "unsafe manner'' as they travelled south on King Street.

The cycles were stopped at East Broadway and checked.

The Southampton boy was found to be a disqualified rider and another cycle was impounded after Police noticed that it had a false number plate.

Once the riders who had committed offences were dealt with, the remainder were warned about their riding behaviour, P.c. Venning said.

GREEN LIGHT FOR WALKERS GVT Green light for walkers Pedestrian traffic lights will change in the way they operate from today.

According to the Corporation of Hamilton the lights outside the ferry terminal, No. 1 and No. 6 passenger terminals and the Supermart will be changed to operate in the same way as lights at the end of Crow Lane.

The lights will still change to red for motorists, but after a few seconds the lights for motorists will flash to amber -- meaning they can go if the crossing is empty but wait if pedestrians are still on the crossing.
