Students involved in a youth climate programme learnt about the electric buses now servicing the island.

The group was given a presentation about the Department of Public Transportation vehicles as well as a tour.

A Government spokeswoman said that Michael DeLeon, the DPT acting operations manager, and Adrian Dill, of the Department of Energy, highlighted the bus features and talked about the positive impact of the fleet on the environment.

She added: “After the tour, students were taken on a short ride to the main bus depot in Hamilton.”

The students were part of the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute’s Youth Climate Summit Programme, which includes pupil representatives from schools across the island, focused on conservation, sustainability and climate justice projects.
