TAF system is not welcoming

Final approach: Canadian passengers did not feel welcomed to Bermuda after enduring the travel authorisation process (Photograph by Blaire Simmons)

Dear Sir,

I had two Canadian visitors join us for coffee this morning. They related their experience in completing Bermuda’s travel Covid documents. Both completed their travel documents, one getting a positive response and the other no response at all. On telephoning the travel line, they were told there was no trace of their application. (This in spite of the fact it had cost them 50 Canadian dollars). On asking what could be done, they were told they had to submit another application and it would cost another 50 Canadian dollars. The person they spoke to in Bermuda was not at all sympathetic.

The second application came through and a few days later the original application came as well.

Not at all a “Welcome to Bermuda”.

The time has come to abolish this document and rely on proof of Covid-19 vaccination.
