Hospitality leaders urged to join school advisory panel
Leaders in the island’s hospitality sector have been urged to join the shaping of a “signature learning programme” in the works under educational reforms.
Tuesday marks the deadline for signing up, according to Tracy Berkeley, chief administration officer of the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
Signature schools offering specialised programmes are part of the Government’s reshaping of Bermuda’s public school system – and Ms Berkeley noted one of the planned senior signature schools would specialise in hospitality and tourism.
Pledging the BTA’s support, she said: “Bermuda relies on the industry's success, and we must ensure that our future workforce is prepared to play its part in the tourism of tomorrow.”
No site has yet been determined for the new senior signature school, but from this month a school transformation team is tasked with collaborating for 17 months to bring the hospitality and tourism curriculum to life.
