One Communications expands roaming destinations

One Communications has expanded their unlimited data carry-on roaming destinations to include Canada, the United Kingdom, and 15 island nations in the Caribbean.

This is in addition to unlimited data roaming in the United States, which was launched in November 2021, and continues the company’s push towards unlimited data at home and away.

For $10 per day, postpaid customers will now have access to unlimited data in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and “Caribbean Select” each day, with 250MB of data at full speed.

As before, signing up to the roaming service is not necessary because the product activates automatically while travelling, as long as data roaming, and cellular data are enabled.

Countries included in Caribbean Select: are Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Turks and Caicos Islands, British Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands.

This change means customers travelling in these countries will have access to 250MB of data at full speed, increased from 100MB. Another important change is when the full speed data is exhausted within the day, customers can continue using data at reduced speeds without any additional purchases. Customers can also choose to add more full speed data by accessing the Carry-On Roaming web link sent via SMS where they will find a daily pack ($10 – 250MB – 24 hours) or a weekly pack ($60 – 2,000MB – seven days).

“While designing this product the most important consideration was keeping our customers connected at all times while travelling,” chief commercial officer Brian Lonergan said.

“Once full speed data has been exhausted for the day and data speeds are reduced, customers can still use their devices for e-mails, social messaging, voice calls over applications like WhatsApp, Google Maps, and so forth. Only video applications like Netflix, Zoom, for example, will be impacted by slower data speeds.”

Mr Lonergan said customers deserve to enjoy their smartphone during their travels and remain in complete control of their spending with no overages, no surprises and a lot more data.

“We will continue to negotiate roaming agreements around the world and add more destinations for unlimited data roaming,” he said. “A lot of great progress has been made in this regard in the past year.”
