Unresponsive man in ICU after being found lying in road

A man is being treated in the intensive care unit this morning after he was found unresponsive, with potentially life-threatening injuries, last night in Camp Hill Road, Southampton, according to police.

A spokesman said the man, believed to be 18 years old, was found near the junction with Fork Lane at about 6.45pm after police were alerted by a 911 call.

The man was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The spokesman said that the circumstances were unclear, but that the injured man may have been involved in a traffic accident.

Traffic diversions were in place at Fork Lane and Middle Road, but as of 9.20pm the road was reopened to traffic.

Witnesses or members of the public with information are urged to call Constable Rajiv Bailey on 211, or e-mail rbailey@bps.bm as soon as possible.
